About This Game
Forester: Reckoning is the Forester story lived rather than managed. You carry your father's ledger down to the harbour on the last ordinary evening, you hear the watch at the door that night, and you stand in the square at dawn. Then you run.
In the old woods north-east of the city there is a clearing, and in it a cabin someone burned twenty years ago. You fell the spruce and raise the walls again. You trade six logs for rye seed with a charcoal burner who asks too many questions. You hunt with his old bow, hide in the trees from the man with the lantern, and keep a fire alive through a blizzard night.
And then people start coming up the road. Raise them cabins, set them to work — felling, farming, baking, cutting stone — and rebuild what you have built in the style of its age: log, then timber and plaster as Hamburg builds, then red brick as the Hanse builds, and at last a city of stucco and street lamps.
Then the wars come. In Part Three you stand on Hamburg's walls against the Danes, and take the Emperor's commission to lead his armies across a map of Europe in 1686. Fifteen chapters of story in three parts, and then the settlement is yours.
